The Ochogwu of Ogugu, HRH Isiaka Isaiah Akor Idoko, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, embarked on a solidarity tour to the extended Ogugu communities in Ojoko land, marking a significant moment of unity among the descendants of Ogugu.
The visit was organized to formally present and strengthen ties with the newly crowned Onu Ochogwu among the Emokwa and Emodu people of Ojoko as well as those back home at Ogugu. The engagement was hosted at the Onu Ofabo Palace, where members of the Emodu and Emokwa communities gathered in large numbers to receive the paramount ruler.
The atmosphere was festive as the Onu Ochogwu arrived from the Onicha-Igo axis to a warm reception from the crowd led by Onu Ofabo, HRH Elder Moses Okeme.
A large retinue of vehicles accompanied the royal procession, including security personnel, native musical troupes, women groups, and beaded chiefs. The arrival of the paramount ruler and his entourage was greeted with excitement and jubilation.
The visit aimed at strengthening the cultural and social bonds among the Ogugu people and fostering development across Ogugu territories.
In his keynote remarks, the President of the Ofabo Community Development Association (OCDA), Daniel Onoja, who was ably represented by Nathan Shem Idoko, described the visit of the Ochogwu as a gateway to stronger cultural and social connectivity between Ogugu communities in both Ogugu and Ojoko. He further appealed that the visit be made an annual event.
The Onu Ofabo, while addressing the gathering, said it was the first time in his lifetime that an Ochogwu of Ogugu had visited his kinsmen in Ojoko. He prayed for continued unity among the people and appealed to the monarch to use his influence and connections to facilitate development in Ofabo and its surrounding communities.
At the kola breaking ceremony, the Ochogwu delegated a highly respected elder in the community, Elder Benjamin Ameh Abah, Gago Abejukolo to break the kola which he did .
In his address, HRH Isiaka Isaiah Akor Idoko acknowledged several notable personalities from Ofabo, including Major General Onogbane Adegbe, Barrister Sunday Idakwo Ameh ( SAN), the late Major J. A. Agada, and the late Marshal Agbo, among others. He also shared memories of his past experiences in Ofabo many years ago.
The monarch assured the community of his commitment to facilitate connections that could make a solar power project possible in Ofabo and its environs. He emphasized the historical unity between Odu and Okwa, noting that the ancestors had sent him to Ojoko to strengthen that bond.
The event featured traditional singing, drumming, dancing, and communal feasting among the descendants of Odu and Okwa, along with their relatives and well-wishers. Adding to the excitement was the ceremonial firing of native guns, whose blasts echoed across Ofabo and neighbouring communities.
The memorable engagement concluded peacefully, with guests departing in good spirits to the glory of God.
