ODA Inaugurates Okun Security Implementation Committee
The National Executive Committee of Okun Development Association (ODA) has taken a significant step towards addressing security challenges in Okunland, Kogi State, by inaugurating the Okun Security Implementation Committee (OSIC). This 10-member committee is tasked with the crucial responsibility of actualizing the 12 thematic templates outlined in the communique from the Okun Security Summit, which was held on February 28, 2025, in Kabba. The primary objective of the OSIC is to leverage the influence and positions of Okun people to achieve a safe and secure Okunland. To accomplish this, the committee will focus on fostering synergetic community engagement across the Okun landscape, ensuring that all stakeholders are working together towards a common goal.
By tapping into the expertise of Okun compatriots, the committee aims to utilize the collective competencies of its people to drive security enhancement initiatives. The inauguration ceremony, which was chaired by Chief Bayo Ojo, CON, SAN, former Attorney General of the Federation,is the Balogun of ijumuland and Bashorun of okun nation
It was attended by notable figures, including former GOC, 3rd Armoured Division, Gen. Julius Olakunle Sunday Oshanupin, Dr David Oluwayomi Atte, Chief Sola Ojo, Prof. Tunde Olusunle; Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye., Barr. Babatunde Irukera, Akogun Stephen Tunde Ibrahim; Chief Jubril Olu Yusuf; Dr Thomas Bode Adeoye; Chief Komolafe; Otunba Olayinka Adenehon Braimoh; Hon Musa Olumayowa Yakubu; Hon Gbenga Olorunnipa; ( who represented Hon Duro Meseko) and Apostle Lekan Aiyenigba
The establishment of the OSIC underscores the need for collective action against insecurity in Okunland and highlights the importance of unity and cooperation among Okun people. By working together, the committee can effectively address the security challenges facing the region and create a safer environment for its citizens.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) members who attended the inauguration showcased the organization’s commitment to unity and collective action. Key members present included Ambassador Akenson Rotimi, the President-General of ODA, who led the NEC. Other notable attendees were Barr. Femi Oloruntoba, the National Secretary; Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, Secretary of the Elders Council; and Hon. Bolanle Amupitan Bolasaiye, the Abuja Liaison Officer.
The inauguration of the OSIC marked a significant step towards achieving this goal, and the attendance of these key members highlighted their commitment to the cause.
