OKUN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (ODA) VISITS THE STATE SECURITY ADVISER TO KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT – COMDR. DURO JERRY OMODARA
Today (Yesterday) Monday 18th November, 2024, the National Executive of Okun Development Association (ODA) ably led by the President General – Amb. Akenson Rotimi, paid a working visit to the office of the State Security Adviser to Kogi State Government – Comdr. Jerry Omodara (Rtd) in his office.
The President General appreciated the State Security Adviser for his tenacity in the security of Kogi State, Okun land in particular.
He made the essence of their visit known, which is to advocate the support of the office of the Security Adviser for a proposed Okun Security Summit, which is expected to hold in the second quarter of 2025.
He noted that the ODA is aware of the insecurity in the land, and the great efforts the State Government has been making to bring the situation to the barest minimum. He emphasized that the planned Okun Security Summit, is a way of adding their voice to curbing the menace of insecurity in Okun land.
While responding, the State Security Adviser – Comdr. Jerry Omodara, thanked the Executives for their visit and their passion /dedication for the development of Okun land. He pointed out that there is need for re-orientation in terms of unity of purpose.
Omodara opined that apart from Security /Economic Summit, the Executives and indeed Okun elites have a lot to do in bringing the people together for development.
He emphasized the need to change the perceptions of the people towards improving the economic situation and bringing infrastructural developments to Okun land.
The State Security Adviser noted that the time for political emancipation is now, if Okun must become the Governor in Kogi State.
Talking about security, Omodara gave credence to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. He said the State is working round the clock to secure the lives and properties of all and sundry.
He enjoined the cooperation of individuals, traditional rulers, etc to give credible information that could help the security operatives in the discharge of their duties, as security is the responsibility of everyone.
He advised the leadership of the ODA to roll out advocacy to discourage indiscriminate selling of lands and conferment of traditional titles to unwanted visitors across Okun land, noting that the Kogi State Government will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone found culpable.
The President General – Amb. Akenson responded that they have received a great enlightment, as many of the issues raised by the State Security Adviser were not opened to the general public. He expressed absolute satisfaction in the matters explained by Comdr. Omodara.
Closing, the National Secretary – Barr. Femi Oloruntoba, who gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the ODA National Executives, thanked the State Security Adviser for his time and for shedding light on the security situation in Okun land. He applauded the successes that have been recorded by the State Government, even as they understood that security issues are not for public discuss. He further prayed for God’s protection upon Comdr. Jerry Omodara, as he goes about discharging his duties.
