PRIMARY IS OVER, NO VICTOR NOR VANQUISHED, OUR GREATER ASSIGNMENT HAS BEGUN – SEN. SUNDAY KARIMI
Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, Kogi West Senatorial District, has called for unity and reconciliation within the All Progressives Congress, APC, declaring that the primary election is over and the party’s focus must now shift to winning the general election and delivering development to the people.
In a statement of appreciation issued after the conclusion of the APC Senatorial primary, Senator Karimi said political contests are temporary, but relationships, institutions, and the collective destiny of the people must endure beyond them.
“Now is the time for every rhetoric of the primary to give way to the language of reconciliation, unity and shared purpose. We must close ranks, rebuild where necessary and present a strong, united front for the task ahead,” he stated.
The senator expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his leadership, and to Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and immediate past Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, for stabilizing and strengthening the party in the state.
He also appreciated the APC National Chairman, National Working Committee, stakeholders across Kogi West, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, party chairmen, ward executives, and all members whose commitment sustained the integrity of the process.
Senator Karimi paid special tribute to his co-contestants: Distinguished Sen. Smart Adeyemi, Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro, Alh. Tajudeen Bismillahi, Hon. Folaranmi Onirinwa, Hon. Abubakar Ola Zakari, and Chief Dr. Doyin Eshanumi Ibikunle.
He commended their maturity and restraint, noting that “we remain united by a common purpose.”
“If, in the course of this primary, any word, action or omission from me or those associated with my aspiration caused offence to anyone, I sincerely seek your understanding.
In the same spirit, I have wholeheartedly forgiven every misunderstanding or hurt directed at me,” he added.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people, Senator Karimi pledged to redouble efforts at uniting Kogi West, carrying every stakeholder along, and attracting more dividends of democracy to the district. He also pledged support to all tiers of government in delivering good governance and accelerating development.
“There is neither VICTOR nor VANQUISHED. There is only one party, one people and one common destiny,” he declared. “The primary is over. Our greater assignment has begun.”
The statement was signed #RenewedHope.
