PROF. NNAMDI URGES NIGERIA, AFRICAN GOVTS TO SUPPORT THE FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The Director General of the Center for African American Research Studies, Professor Nnamdi Nwaodu has called on the Governments of the Countries on the Continent of Africa to Support the fight against Human trafficking, modern Slavery, Child Labour, Domestic Violence and Other Social vices denying the people of the Continent their human dignity.
Prof. Nnamdi made the call at the all African Conference on Human Trafficking, Modern Slavery, Child Labour, Domestic Violence, and Other Vices, a Conference he Convened, with the theme ” Ridding of Menace of Human trafficking, modern Slavery, Child Labour, Domestic Violence and Other Social vices, held at the National Center for women Development (NCWD), Wednesday, November 13th, 2024.
He pointed out that the Conference was the flag off of the phases of more Conferences expected to hold in the 54 Other Countries on the Continent with a view to fighting the hydra headed Scourge of human trafficking dehumanizing victims and portraying the Continent in a bad light.
He stressed that having worked as a Teacher for 35 years, he felt there was a need to give back to the Society a needful Services, hence his determination to venture in to this Project of Checkmating human trafficking and other related social menace in Nigeria and Africa in general.
Professor Nnamdi further appealed to the Government of Nigeria in particular and Africa in general to assist the Center for African American Research Studies with funds and operational Offices to enable them Carryout their functions of eradicating human trafficking and other related ills effectively. adding that ” we are out for a mission, but we don’t have budget, we are calling on Government and those agencies of Government to come to the aid of the Center, since we don’t have budget on our own”.
Answering questions by the media men on some victims of Human Trafficking who blamed it on unemployment, economic hardship and political instability, Prof. Nnamdi reacted by enjoining leaders of Governments in the 55 Countries in Africa to provided people oriented, responsive leadership and good Governance to serve as Solutions to the menace.
