SDP Alleged thugs take over post office area in Lokoja, stopped from invading INEC office
Thugs allegedly loyal to the Social Democratic Party, on Wednesday, stormed the Kogi State Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lokoja, chanting war songs and ready to cause mayhem in the state capital.
The thugs numbering over 100, who wore fezcaps of the SDP Governorship Candidate, Muritala Ajaka, and mask, made efforts to get to the main gate of the commission.
Security operatives mostly policemen in uniforms have barricaded the road leading from police office junction to the INEC office with a warning that none of the thugs should come closer the office.
The situation around the popular post office area known for commercial activities is becoming tense as many business owners around the area have returned their goods back home for fear of vandalization by the thugs.
One of the traders, a Hausa man, Mallam Mohammed Sanni, told newsmen that around 9am this morning some young persons in their numbers wearing SDP fezcap with Muri’s name, stormed the post office junction and asked them (the traders) to move away or their goods would be destroyed.
Sanni said since they didn’t have the strength to confront them, they (the traders) had to return home with their items.
He appealed to the government and security agencies in the state to do the needful to enable them come out for their business.
