The Senior Special Assistant to the governor, Hon. Avoyi Billi Nwogu, has described the resounding victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State as the affirmation of the confidence Nigerians have in the ability of the ruling party to extricate Nigeria from the current economic woes.
The APC governorship candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo emerged winner of the Kogi governorship election with 446,237 votes to beat Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who polled 259,052 votes to come second.
The win followed the earlier one in Imo State, where Governor Hope Uzodimma, also of the APC was declared the winner of Saturday’s election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Nwogu, who is also the special assistant to Governor,on electronics, said Ododo’s victory was the culmination of the successes recorded by the APC in the last eight years and the confidence reposed in the Governor-elect.
Billi, praised voters in Kogi State who trooped out en masse on Saturday to vote Ododo, even as he acknowledged the resilience of Governor Yahaya Bello in ensuring the electoral victory of the ruling party.
She appealed to the new Governor -elect to carry along women and youth groups in his administration.
