Start-Rite Schools Ends Term on a High Note — A Season of Firsts, Wins and Wonder
The school gates may have closed for the holidays, but the energy from a remarkable term at Start-Rite Schools is still very much alive. With the corridors now quiet and students enjoying a well-earned break, the echoes of applause, laughter, and achievement still linger, reminders of a term that was nothing short of extraordinary.
From international milestones to deeply moving community moments, Start-Rite has once again affirmed its position as a beacon of excellence and innovation in education. And at the heart of this thriving ecosystem is the vision of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba OFR, CON, SAN, Chairman of the Advisory Board, whose commitment to raising a world-class institution is propelling the school to heights where, in his words, “the world will hear us.”
The term’s momentum began with a historic feat. Start-Rite Schools, Abuja became the proud host of the inaugural COBIS-TEDx event in Africa. It was more than just a conference; it was a movement of minds, a moment of global convergence where storytelling, and youth leadership lit up the stage.
Speakers from around the world, including Japan, Luxembourg, Sierra Leone, Lagos, Minna, and Abuja, gathered under one roof to share ideas and spark bold conversations with students, educators, and guests. With a stage set for inspiration, the event celebrated innovation, courage, and the boundless potential of youth. For many, it was their first TEDx experience, yet the impact is timeless.
And as if the stage lights weren’t bright enough, Start-Rite turned its spotlight inward on the families, values, and mentors who shape its heartbeat. On International Women’s Day, the school redefined the celebration by hosting an immersive Career Day. But this wasn’t just about women; both mothers and fathers were invited not only as parents but as professionals and purpose-driven individuals. From tech to law, medicine to entrepreneurship, students listened as parents demystified career paths and spoke of dreams, challenges, and perseverance. It was mentorship in its most authentic form and the message was clear: the future is theirs for the taking.
The community came together again, this time to honour motherhood. Mother’s Day at Start-Rite was an emotionally rich celebration, blending heartfelt tributes, student performances, and joyous moments that moved many to tears. The event was more like a love letter to the women who uplift, guide, and nurture. Many mothers left with not just appreciation, but a renewed sense of belonging.
With regards to academic excellence, one of Start-Rite’s bright young stars clinched the top prize in a spelling bee competition, emerging the overall winner among 100 students from 50 schools, a testament to the school’s focus on literacy and language.
In a separate contest, Start-Rite students also secured second place in a French language competition, holding their own against over 100 participants. Their performance was, in every sense, magnifique.
And in yet another proud moment, a Year 9 student brought home the championship title in a regional reading competition, triumphing over competitors from 20 different schools.
Each of these wins, whether on stage, in class, or within the hearts of parents, is a testament to the school’s mission to raise confident, capable, and compassionate global citizens. This mission is being realised not just through infrastructure or curriculum, but through intentional leadership that sees education as nation-building and nation-building as legacy work.
Though students are now enjoying their break, the school remains open for enquiries and admissions.
