Successful Tenure: Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government and ALGON Chairman, Kogi State Acknowledges Governor Yahaya Bello’s Role in His Success
In a remarkable valedictory and Thanksgiving ceremony, Alh. (Dr.) Taufiq A. Isa, the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman, Kogi State, expressed his deep gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, stating that as long as the Governor is alive, he will remain grateful to him and also relevant.
This heartfelt appreciation is a testament to the impact Governor Bello has made in Alh. Taufiq’s life and political career.
During his emotional address, Alh. Taufiq reflected on his journey, acknowledging that his story would not be complete without mentioning Governor Bello’s instrumental role.

When he served as the caretaker chairman for Ijumu Local Government Area, Governor Bello provided unwavering support, enabling Alh. Taufiq to become the Executive Chairman. Furthermore, Governor Bello made history by appointing Alh. Taufiq as the ALGON Chairman for Kogi State, a position he held throughout the caretaker era and until today, surpassing all previous achievements in the state’s history.
Expressing his gratitude to his family, community, and colleagues, Alh. Taufiq extended his appreciation to God for His divine providence. He acknowledged the support and sacrifices made by his immediate and extended family, as well as the indigenes and residents of Odokoro-Gbede, his community. Alh. Taufiq also thanked the legislative arm of the local government, his appointees, the management and staff of Ijumu Local Government Area, and the traditional councils that provided support and collaboration during his tenure.
During his tenure as Chairman, Alh. Taufiq listed several areas where the local government made significant impact. The first was in ensuring the security of lives and property, which was previously suffering. Thanks to the efforts of Alh. Taufiq and his team, the people of Ijumu now enjoy a renewed sense of safety.
Another accomplishment worth noting is the establishment of Zango Market in Iyara, which provides numerous advantages to the community. Additionally, the local government under Alh. Taufiq’s leadership was able to construct an ultramodern Executive Hall, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in the Local Government secretariat. The expansion of the Mangal Industries in Iluhagba is also attributed to the administration’s efforts, creating employment opportunities and reducing crime in the society.
Alh. Taufiq’s administration upheld a zero-tolerance policy towards cultism in Ijumu, leading to the renouncement of various individuals from these anathematic organizations. Feeder roads in the area were improved due to a state of emergency declaration, and the health sector received support through the provision of free medical services. In education, primary schools in Ijumu underwent renovation, supported by the state government. The intervention of the administration also resolved the absence of Obas in some communities, leading to a stronger Ijumu Traditional Council.
Alh. Taufiq concluded his address with a mention of the empowerment program that distributed over one thousand motorcycles and vehicles to youths and women across Ijumu Local Government Area, designed to support their day-to-day business activities. He thanked all attendees for their presence at the thanksgiving ceremony, expressing his well-wishes and blessings.
During the Thanksgiving ceremony, the esteemed Chairman, Honourable Taofiq Isa, was honored with numerous awards from various groups and corporate bodies, exemplifying his remarkable contributions and exceptional leadership. Amongst the prestigious accolades received were: Kogi State ambassador, recognition from the Ijumu All Progressives Congress, the heartfelt appreciation from the Divine Favour Women Political Group, and the commendation bestowed by the Jagaban Bumpers and Odokoro Gbede Students Union. These esteemed awards signify the immense respect and admiration for Chairman Isa’s dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to public service.
Today’s valedictory and thanksgiving ceremony not only celebrated Alh. Taufiq’s successful tenure but also highlighted the profound impact that Governor Yahaya Bello had on his life. As long as the governor remains alive, Alh.
