Three South East Govs Sabotaging Tinubu’s Reelection, Ohanaeze Alleges

The apex Igbo sociocultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo has alleged that three governors from the South East zone were plotting against the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The body also alleged that these three governors were in coalition with influential political actors, including two former Presidents and past military Heads of State, along with elites from the opposition and discontented factions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy President General of the organisation, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze Ndigbo disclosed that their actions constitute an unacceptable and audacious attempt to co-opt leadership elements within Ohanaeze Ndigbo, driven by a desire to politically undermine the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, in his home state of Rivers.
According to the body: “this is not merely an exercise in political maneuvering; it is a systematic effort to incite discontent among the Nigerian populace by exploiting genuine economic grievances and widespread insecurity, thereby encouraging unrest”.
“We assert, with unequivocal clarity, that these governors harbor ulterior motives aimed at mobilizing disillusioned Nigerians—particularly within the Igbo Nation—into their ill-conceived revolutionary movements as we approach the politically charged years of 2025 and 2026, leading up to the pivotal 2027 presidential elections”.
“Their schemes are cunningly designed to cultivate a narrative of dissent that not only vilifies President Tinubu but also positions themselves as astute and compassionate leaders, cloaked in a benevolent facade of concern for the nation’s welfare”.
“The desperation displayed by these governors serves a dual purpose: firstly, to compel President Tinubu into acquiescing to their political demands, which would jeopardize his invaluable relationships with key allies across the South-South and Southeast regions—including Barr Nyesom Wike, Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, and other prominent ministers within his administration”.
“Secondly, these governors intend to manipulate the esteemed platform of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to galvanize the Igbo Nation into an unreliable alliance with Northern political establishments aimed explicitly at unseating President Tinubu”.
“To this end, we must shine a spotlight on the actions of Governor Hope Uzodinma, who, amidst considerable controversy, allegedly procured the 2023 APC Presidential Nomination Form for former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, positioning himself in opposition to President Tinubu”.
“Furthermore, reports suggest that he has sought to influence former APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu to act contrary to the interests of President Tinubu during the critical 2023 APC primaries. Alarmingly, an ongoing secret alignment appears to be forming among these opposition figures and disgruntled APC governors, indicating a concerted effort to undermine the presidency”, Ohanaeze Ndigbo said.
The apex body further appealed to all members of the esteemed Igbo community, as well as all patriotic Nigerians, to unite against these insidious political machinations that threaten democratic principles and collective future.
