Ekakpamre

The Uhurie Political Parliament (UPP) has declared its determination to mobilise support across the Uhurie/Ughievwen political landscape for the emergence of Olorogun Samson Gordons Okomitie, JP, as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Ughelli South Constituency I in the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made at Ekakpamre, Ughelli South Local Government Area, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, shortly after the inauguration and swearing-in of the newly constituted executive committee of the political group.

The event, held at the residence of the founder of the organisation, Olorogun Francis Vevakpor, attracted political stakeholders, community leaders, members of the UPP and supporters of Okomitie from different parts of Ughievwen Kingdom, which make up Ughelli South Constituency I.

The newly constituted executive was formally sworn in by the former Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Council, Chief Oviri Uto, the Aghogho Re’ Ovie of Ughievwen Kingdom and patron of the group.

Speaking during the inauguration, the newly sworn-in Chairman of the Uhurie Political Parliament, Mr. Ezekiel Olarho, expressed appreciation to Olorogun Vevakpor for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the organisation.

Olarho described the establishment of the UPP as an important development in the political mobilisation of the Uhurie people, saying the organisation was determined to provide a platform through which the people could articulate and pursue their collective political interests.

He praised the founder for what he described as his commitment to building a political structure capable of bringing Uhurie people together and promised that the leadership under his watch would work relentlessly to advance the objectives of the organisation.

According to him, the UPP would take the campaign for Olorogun Samson Gordons Okomitie’s 2027 House of Assembly ambition to communities and political stakeholders across Ughievwen Kingdom.

He specifically identified Ohwaha, Orhoghe and Ukpedi sub-clans as areas where the organisation intended to intensify its mobilisation, while describing Ekakpamre Ward as a strategically important and highly populated political area.

Olarho declared that members of the UPP should regard Okomitie’s aspiration as a collective political project and work towards achieving the objective.

He said the group had confidence in Okomitie because of his previous engagements with the people and his record of empowerment and grassroots participation.

“We have confidence in Olorogun Samson Gordons Okomitie because he has proven his mettle as Mr. Empowerment with the position of Executive Assistant, where everybody benefited. So we know him well,” Olarho stated.

He further urged members to carry the message of Okomitie’s candidacy beyond the immediate gathering, insisting that the UPP would deploy its grassroots network in pursuit of its political objective.

Political Slumber Is Over” — Olarho
In a strong political declaration, Olarho said Uhurie had, in his view, awakened from what he described as political slumber and was prepared to play a more decisive role in determining who represents the people.

He expressed confidence that the UPP had the organisational capacity to mobilise support for Okomitie across the relevant communities.

He described Okomitie as a tested and trusted politician whose experience in public engagement and empowerment, according to him, had positioned him for legislative representation.

The UPP chairman called on members to take ownership of the political project and work collectively towards the 2027 election.

“The Coast Is Clear,” Says Vice Chairman
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of the UPP, Comrade Wilson Eruteyan of Otokutu, said the organisation had already begun building momentum.

Eruteyan said the immediate task before the group was to consolidate its structure and communicate Okomitie’s political message to the electorate across Orhoghe, Ohwaha and Ukpedi.

He expressed optimism about Okomitie’s prospects, citing what he described as the candidate’s extensive political network and grassroots acceptance within Ughievwen Kingdom.

He said the UPP would continue to expand its mobilisation activities as the 2027 political season progresses.

Campaign Organisation Welcomes Mobilisation
The Director-General of the Gordons Okomitie Campaign Organisation, Chief Okubor Edward, expressed satisfaction with the mobilisation demonstrated by the Uhurie Political Parliament.

Okubor said the development represented a significant boost to the campaign organisation’s efforts to build grassroots support for Okomitie.

He expressed confidence that the structures emerging around the aspiration would help translate the candidate’s political ambition into a successful campaign.
