Your Excellency,
We write with utmost respect and responsibility, compelled by recent developments regarding the criminal charges filed by the Kano State Government against the immediate past Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and several others, as reported in the media.
While it is within the rights of any administration to pursue accountability and transparency, it is equally important that such actions are guided by due process, fairness, and the supreme interest of the public – not the interest of political vendetta or calculated intimidation.
It is with grave concern that we observe a pattern – a persistent and seemingly obsessive attempt by your administration to drag the name and legacy of Dr. Ganduje into disrepute through unfounded accusations, media trials, and the continuous politicization of government institutions. This latest development appears to follow that same trajectory.
Your Excellency, governance is a serious mandate. The people of Kano State elected you to lead, not to dwell in retroactive accusations or expend state resources chasing political shadows. The path to progress lies not in witch-hunting predecessors but in delivering real results to the people – in healthcare, education, security, and economic development.
It is concerning that since assuming office, Your Excellency appears more focused on undoing the legacies of your predecessor than fulfilling your own campaign promises. Is it not time to return to the drawing board and re-evaluate your priorities? The citizens are watching, and history will judge.
The recent criminal case against Dr. Ganduje and others, appears riddled with political undertones. The timing, the selective nature of the charges, and the extensive use of media to tarnish reputations all point to a deeper political agenda rather than a sincere pursuit of justice.
Furthermore, the public denial by Dala Inland Dry Port (DIDP) – with official confirmation from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) – that neither Dr. Ganduje nor his family members have ever owned shares or had directorial roles in the company, further discredits the narrative being pushed by your administration.
Your Excellency, we urge you to tread carefully. Government power is not a personal tool for vengeance. The dignity of your office requires statesmanship, maturity, and vision – not repeated public attacks on individuals who are no longer in power.
Let it be on record: political harassment and show trials do not serve the people – they distract from governance, create division, and waste public resources. The people of Kano deserve better.
Your Excellency, it is not too late to shift course. Focus on governance. Allow the courts to operate independently, free from political influence. Learn from history. The politics of vindictiveness has never yielded lasting legacy.
We understand the current wave of accusations for what they are – politics, and nothing more.
Let us all be reminded that political office is temporary, but the consequences of injustice, manipulation, and abuse of power are lasting.
