In the evolving political landscape of Kebbi State, a remarkable story of unity across party lines and grassroots political awakening is beginning to take shape—one that could significantly influence the dynamics of the 2027 general elections.
On a calm Saturday in Yauri Local Government Area, a high-level political meeting quietly unfolded. At the center of it was Alhaji Idi Shalto Tambarin Ilela, a respected political figure and coordinator to Senator Garba Musa Maidoki. He convened a strategic session with leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from ten wards representing Yauri LGA.
What made the meeting extraordinary was not just the gathering itself, but the outcome. Despite belonging to a different political party, these PDP ward leaders openly declared their support for Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, pledging unity and cooperation to ensure his re-election for a second term.
Their decision, they explained, was driven not by party loyalty, but by performance. According to them, Senator Maidoki has distinguished himself through tangible developmental strides across Kebbi South. They described him as a rare leader—one who consistently places the welfare of his people above all else.
“In all the years of senatorial representation in this region,” one leader remarked, “we have never witnessed a Senator like Maidoki.”
Alhaji Idi Shalto Tambarin Ilela further reinforced this sentiment, highlighting the Senator’s contributions in critical sectors such as security, youth employment, healthcare development, and humanitarian support. He also praised Maidoki’s respect for traditional institutions and religious leadership—an important cultural pillar in Northern Nigeria.
In a surprising but strategic move, the PDP leaders announced their decision to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC), solely to support Senator Maidoki’s continued leadership. They emphasized that anyone who genuinely cares about the progress of Kebbi South should rally behind him.
In his response, the Senator’s coordinator revealed plans for a major political gathering scheduled for the following Saturday in Yauri. The event is expected to draw PDP members and other stakeholders who will publicly endorse Senator Maidoki, Kebbi State Governor Dr. Idris Kauran Gwandu, and the broader APC agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.
He extended an open invitation to all individuals committed to the development of Kebbi State—especially Kebbi South—to attend and participate in shaping the region’s political future.
In a related development, a political support group known as Tinubu, Kaura Maidoki Support Organization (TKM) demonstrated its growing influence by organizing a large-scale endorsement rally in Sakaba Local Government Area.
The event, held at the Sakaba LGA headquarters, brought together representatives from ten wards. Under the leadership of Alhaji Isah Umar Sharo Diri, the organization mobilized a diverse group of stakeholders, including prominent politicians and respected community figures.
The gathering also featured notable women leaders, Malama Nasaiba Hussain Diri and Malama Hauwau Muhammad Mudi Sakaba, both recognized as strong grassroots mobilizers and proud advocates of Senator Maidoki.
Representing the Senator at the event was his coordinator, Alhaji Usman Sani Diri, who commended the organization for its foresight and commitment. He described the youth as energetic and purposeful, acknowledging their role in recognizing and supporting effective leadership.
Participants at the rally expressed admiration for Senator Maidoki’s performance in the National Assembly, particularly his efforts in promoting peace, empowering young people, and improving living standards across the region.
Although this marked the first time the group publicly declared its support, members emphasized that their decision was inspired by the Senator’s visible dedication and consistent engagement with his constituents.
“Young people in Sakaba have seen the difference,” one speaker noted. “That is why we are standing firmly behind him for 2027.”
The group also announced plans to engage with APC leadership and seek approval to conduct ward-to-ward outreach campaigns across Sakaba LGA. Their goal is to promote the policies and vision of the APC, while building support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Idris Kauran Gwandu, and Senator Garba Musa Maidoki as they seek another mandate.
As political alliances begin to shift and new coalitions emerge, Kebbi South appears to be entering a defining moment. The story of Senator Garba Musa Maidoki is no longer confined to party lines—it is becoming a broader narrative about leadership, performance, and the power of grassroots support.
With growing endorsements from opposition figures and energized youth movements, the road to 2027 is already being paved—not just with political strategy, but with a compelling story of trust earned through action.
