In a moment of great relief for families and communities across Kebbi State, all twenty-four schoolgirls abducted from Government Secondary School, Maga, in the Zuru Emirate have regained their freedom and reunited with their loved ones. The return of the children was marked by emotional scenes—tears, prayers, embraces, and gratitude—as the girls were confirmed to be in stable condition, with no reports of abuse.
Speaking through his Special Assistant, Hon. Dantani Ango Yalo, the Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, who represents Kebbi South Senatorial District, expressed deep sympathy to the traumatised schoolgirls, their parents, and the entire Zuru Emirate. He prayed to Almighty Allah to shield the children and ensure that such heartbreaking episodes never occur again.
“We thank Almighty Allah for bringing all our daughters back home safely. May He continue to protect our communities and prevent the recurrence of such tragedies,” Senator Maidoki said.
Hon. Dantani Yalo also disclosed that Senator Maidoki extended heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the swift and decisive interventions taken immediately after the abduction. He commended the Federal Government for coordinating with security agencies and state authorities to secure the children’s release.
The Senator equally praised the Governor of Kebbi State, His Excellency Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, describing him as a leader whose unwavering commitment and sleepless nights contributed significantly to the successful rescue mission.
According to Yalo, Senator Maidoki further reassured residents of Kebbi South that he will continue to support policies and security strategies aimed at strengthening safety across schools and communities. He emphasized the need for sustained vigilance, improved security infrastructure, and closer collaboration between traditional leaders, community groups, and government agencies.
The Senator expressed profound gratitude to the Nigerian military, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, and other security units. He hailed their courage, discipline, and sacrifice throughout the rescue operation.
“Our security agencies demonstrated exceptional dedication. We acknowledge their sacrifices and pray for Allah’s continued protection over them,” he stated.
Senator Maidoki also commended religious leaders, community elders, youth groups, and women’s associations whose prayers, advocacy, and moral support sustained hope during the girls’ captivity. Their collective unity, he noted, played a vital role in the eventual breakthrough.
He extended congratulations to the parents and guardians of the rescued students, acknowledging the emotional distress they endured over the last several days. He further offered special recognition to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zuru, whose guidance and calm leadership helped stabilise the community during the crisis.
Visibly moved during the reception of the children, Senator Maidoki expressed joy at seeing the schoolgirls returned unharmed.
“We give thanks to Allah, the Most Merciful, who fulfilled His promise to protect His servants. Through the blessings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), we pray to witness the complete end of these security challenges,” he added.
Yalo, who conveyed the Senator’s message to journalists, reaffirmed Senator Maidoki’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and security of Kebbi South. He assured the public that authorities remain fully prepared to secure the release of any abducted person and to pursue measures that guarantee lasting peace in the region.
