An Open Letter to Prince Olatunji Olusoji: A New Political Journey
My Dear Prince Olatunji Olusoji,
Please accept my sincere congratulations on your recent and official defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This is undoubtedly a significant move, and my earnest prayer is that this new political alignment will ultimately serve as a catalyst, bringing greater development, opportunity, and progress to the Okun people and Okunland as a whole.
Your name is already synonymous with impactful philanthropy. Over the years, your dedication to uplifting our people has been evident through numerous selfless acts:
Youth and Women Empowerment Initiatives: Providing critical skills and resources.
Scholarships for Students: Ensuring that promising Okun youths are not denied education due to financial constraints.
Generous Community Donations: Contributing significantly to countless communities across Okunland for development projects.
Timely Interventions: Offering critical and timely assistance to individuals facing distress.
You have consistently demonstrated a profound commitment to the welfare of Okun people, and I pray that God continues to bless you abundantly in all your endeavors, enabling you to do even more for humanity.
The New Terrain of Politics
However, Prince, as you transition from the world of business into the complex arena of politics, a word of caution is necessary. The dynamics of the business world, characterized by strategic calculation and predictable returns on investment, are not comparable to the unpredictable intrigues and often Machiavellian nature of politics, especially within the context of Kogi State.
It is safe to conclude that a person of your stature and accomplishment is not seeking political power for self-aggrandizement. Rather, your motivation seems to stem from the genuine desire to effect change—a noble cause. Nonetheless, the allure and intoxicating power that political office offers can be irresistible, and one must remain grounded in their core principles.
Prince, your recent public comments regarding the clamor for an Okun Governor demonstrate a critical misjudgment of the underlying urgency and depth of the Okun cause.
You cannot afford the political misstep of being seen as opposing or sidelining legitimate efforts to combat decades of marginalization. Any sincere, rights-based clamor is, by its very nature, a confrontation with an unfair system.
Let us be clear: the Okun people are not soliciting favors; they are asserting the respect and equity that is their unalienable right.
Be wary of any political assurances. If your public posture, words, or deeds do not align squarely with the foundational aspirations of your people, your otherwise extraordinary good works and established philanthropy will pale into regrettable insignificance.
This makes it even more imperative for you to tread with utmost caution as you navigate this new political journey.
Be acutely aware of the landscape. Politics is often a world of shadows, where promises and pledges are frequently made not to be kept, but to serve as a momentary hoax for political gain. Be wary of those who seek to use your goodwill, resources, and influence for ends that do not genuinely serve the Okun people. Guard your integrity fiercely.
I wish you every success in your political career, Prince Olatunji Olusoji. Your entry into active politics is a matter of great interest to many. May your actions be guided by wisdom, integrity, and a steadfast focus on the Okun welfare.
In this journey, may my pessimism—born out of long observation of our political terrain—be resoundingly proved wrong by your positive impact.
Yours in the service of Okunland,
Ponle Adeniyi
