CHIEF OLUFEMI SMITH JOHNSON TO RECEIVE DISTINGUISHED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE AWARD, AUGUST 19 IN ABUJA

A renowned community leader and philanthropist, Chief Olufemi Smith Johnson, is set to receive the Distinguished Community Development Service Award from DEMOCRACY NEWSLINE Newspaper in recognition of his outstanding contributions to grassroots development and social welfare.
The award will be presented to him at the newspaper’s 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 19th August, 2026 at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja at 5:00pm.
The event is being organized to commemorate 27 Years of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria with the theme: “Economic Reform, Democracy and Sustainable Development: The Nigerian Example.”
Announcing the honour, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, described Chief Johnson as a pace-setter in community service whose commitment to improving lives has brought tangible development to many communities.
“Chief Olufemi Smith Johnson has demonstrated exemplary leadership in community development. Through his interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and empowerment programmes, he has continued to touch lives and set standards for service to humanity,” Chief Femi stated.
Over the years, Chief Johnson has been involved in various initiatives aimed at supporting the less privileged, providing scholarships to indigent students, and facilitating projects that enhance the well-being of people at the grassroots.
The ceremony will also feature a keynote lecture by leading policy experts and the induction of other distinguished Nigerians into the _Good Governance Hall of Fame_ for their contributions to democracy, leadership, and national development.
Traditional rulers, government officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders from across the country are expected to attend the event.
