ESTHER ABEJIDE VISITS KOGI FIRST LADY, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Chief Mrs Esther Abejide, wife of the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, pledging stronger collaboration to advance women’s economic empowerment and social welfare across the state.
During the visit held in Lokoja, Chief Mrs Abejide commended the First Lady for her sustained support for women and vulnerable groups, as well as her commitment to improving citizens’ welfare through impactful humanitarian initiatives.

She also lauded the compassionate leadership of Governor Usman Ododo and Hajia Sefinat Ododo, noting their efforts in promoting programmes aimed at empowering women, supporting children, and improving the lives of vulnerable members of society.
“This visit is aimed at strengthening collaboration and exploring ways to enhance women’s participation in development, while advancing initiatives that will promote their economic empowerment and social inclusion,” Chief Mrs Abejide said.
She further expressed her readiness to support the present administration and the All Progressives Congress, APC, through greater involvement of women in governance and community development.
In her response, Hajia Sefinat Ododo described the visit as a demonstration of sincerity, commitment, friendship, and togetherness.
The First Lady expressed optimism that their joint efforts would yield greater results in reaching and empowering more women across the 21 local government areas of the state.
“Our joint efforts to reach out to more women across Kogi State will yield more results. I know you are committed to women and youth development,” Hajia Ododo said.
Observers say the meeting signals a renewed push by stakeholders in Kogi West and across the state to align with the Ododo administration’s agenda on women inclusion, poverty reduction, and grassroots development.
Democracy Newsline newspaper reports that women’s empowerment programmes have become a key focus of the current administration, with initiatives targeting skills acquisition, small business support, and healthcare for women and children.
