FORMER KANO LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOSSES DISMISS BARAU ENDORSEMENT RUMOUR, REAFFIRM LOYALTY TO APC LEADERSHIP
The Association of Former Local Government Chairmen in Kano State (ALGON Integrity Group) has categorically dismissed a widely circulated social media report alleging that its members have endorsed the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, as the preferred All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
In a firm rebuttal, the Chairman of the Association and former Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government, Hon. Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, described the claim as false, misleading, and entirely concocted to misrepresent the collective position of the group. He called on APC members within Kano State and nationwide to ignore the fabrication in its entirety.
Hon. Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa clarified that, contrary to the viral report, former local government chairmen were physically present in Kano State on the day the alleged endorsement meeting was said to have taken place in Abuja. According to him, ALGON members were attending their scheduled routine meeting in Kano at that exact time.
> “It is surprising—indeed laughable—that anyone would claim we held a meeting in Abuja while we were clearly in Kano. The story is baseless and should be dismissed outright,” Farawa stated.
He further emphasized that the APC in Kano State operates under a clear, respected, and established leadership structure, headed by former Governor of Kano State, former APC National Chairman, and political leader of the party in Kano, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Khadimul Islam), alongside other senior party stakeholders. He stressed that only the duly recognized leadership of the party has the authority to outline legitimate procedures and guidelines for the selection of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Farawa condemned what he described as calculated attempts by certain individuals and groups to sow discord within the party. Such actions, he noted, are divisive, unnecessary, and counterproductive to the unity and growth of the APC in Kano State.
He urged party members across all levels to remain steadfast, united, and focused on strengthening the APC as political activities intensify ahead of 2027.
The Association recalled that a similar disclaimer was recently issued by former members of the Kano State House of Assembly as well as former commissioners who served under Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, all of whom firmly denied ever endorsing Senator Barau for the 2027 governorship race.
