University gives candidates who missed first screening, those changing institution of choice another opportunity

EFFURUN, Delta State — Wednesday, 5 August 2026: The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has commenced registration for its Supplementary Post-UTME Screening Exercise for the 2026/2027 Academic Session, giving eligible candidates another opportunity to seek admission into the University.

The supplementary screening is targeted at candidates who missed the initial Post-UTME Screening Exercise held from 21 to 25 July 2026, as well as candidates who wish to change their institution of choice to FUPRE and participate in the admission process.

According to the University, registration will close on Sunday, 23 August 2026, while the supplementary screening exercise will take place on Monday, 24 August and Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

Candidates are required to complete their registration through the University’s admission portal, https://utme.fupre.edu.ng, at a screening fee of ₦2,000.

To qualify for the exercise, candidates must have scored a minimum of 160 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
They must also have selected FUPRE as their first-choice institution or completed the required Change of Institution to FUPRE process, possess at least five relevant O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings, and be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026. Recognised O’Level examinations include SSCE, NECO, GCE and NABTEB.

Established in 2007 to develop skilled manpower for Nigeria’s petroleum industry and allied sectors, FUPRE has evolved into a leading specialised university committed to excellence, relevance and innovation.
The University is recognized as Africa’s first specialized petroleum university and the sixth in the world. It currently offers 32 undergraduate programmes across five colleges, with programmes spanning science engineering and technology, computing, maritime studies as well as petroleum administration and management.

Through its specialized academic environment, FUPRE combines academic knowledge with practical learning, technology, innovation and industry relevance, preparing students for opportunities in the petroleum and energy industry and other allied sectors.

The supplementary screening therefore provides prospective students with another opportunity to pursue their academic aspirations at a university focused on preparing graduates for the demands of a rapidly changing global economy.

The University has urged eligible candidates to complete their registration early and avoid waiting until the deadline.

Candidates who participated in the initial Post-UTME Screening Exercise from 21 to 25 July 2026 are not required to participate in the supplementary exercise.
Prospective candidates are also advised to regularly check the admission portal for official updates.
