Governor Umaru Bago has awarded, and work has started on the construction of the 55km Gulu-Evuti-Lambata Road under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
For decades, the residents of Lapai Local Government Area have endured the deplorable state of the Gulu-Evuti-Lambata (along Muye axis) road. Farmers have suffered huge losses, with millions of naira worth of produce wasted annually due to the poor state of the road.
The people of Azza in Lapai local government, particularly farmers and frequent users, have faced serious hardships. Many are forced to leave their vehicles in Lapai when traveling to Azza and using commercial transport to avoid damaging their cars. However, the commencement of this road project brings renewed hope for a better future.
The journey along this 55km road should take less than an hour, users often spend 3-4 hours during the dry season and even longer during the rainy season.
This project is part of the rural development agenda of Governor Bago’s administration and will be a double-coat surface dressing to ensure durability and easy access.
