Hon. Chief Ese Arigo Thanks President Tinubu for Increasing Amnesty Programme Funds, Backs Otuaro to Support President for 2027

Hon. Chief Ese Arigo, President of the Urhobo Ex-Militants Forum and Special Assistant on Security Matters to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increasing funding for the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), describing it as a strategic move to strengthen peace, stability, and economic reintegration in the Niger Delta.
Speaking to stakeholders and beneficiaries, Arigo said the funding boost reflects renewed federal commitment to tackling unemployment, youth restiveness, and underdevelopment. He noted that since its establishment in 2009 under late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, PAP has remained vital for the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of former militants.
He emphasized that increased funding would enhance vocational training, scholarships, entrepreneurship, and timely stipend payments—key measures to prevent a return to militancy. Arigo described the decision as timely and visionary, underscoring the Niger Delta’s importance to Nigeria’s economy.
Arigo also endorsed the leadership of PAP Administrator Dennis Otuaro, urging him to align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and mobilize regional support for the President ahead of the 2027 elections. He stressed that continuity in leadership would sustain ongoing reforms and development in the region.
Calling for unity among ex-agitators, Arigo warned against divisions that could undermine progress and urged stronger collaboration among government, traditional institutions, and community leaders. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Urhobo Ex-Militants Forum to peace and security in the region.
Stakeholders praised the President’s focus on the Niger Delta, expressing optimism that the increased funding would benefit youths. Arigo concluded by urging beneficiaries to remain law-abiding and use available opportunities productively, noting that continued regional support for President Tinubu signals growing political strength ahead of future elections.
