The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has restated its unwavering commitment to the reelection of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, firmly rejecting claims of internal dissent allegedly expressed by a group identified as the “Arewa APC Forum.”
In a strongly worded statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, the party described the purported withdrawal of support as “false, misleading, and a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of the APC in Kano and beyond.” The statement emphasized that no legitimate or constitutionally recognized organ of the party in the state had taken such a position.
According to the release, the Kano chapter of the APC remains united and resolute in backing President Tinubu’s administration and its policy direction. The party leadership warned that the circulation of such claims by unnamed individuals or groups was part of a broader effort to sow discord within party ranks ahead of future political contests.
“We are aware of deliberate attempts by certain elements to create confusion and disunity within our fold,” the statement read. “This so-called forum is unknown to the party structure and does not represent the views or aspirations of APC members in Kano State.”
The party’s position was further reinforced under the leadership of Umar Haruna Doguwa, who has been at the forefront of consolidating party unity in the state. Doguwa and other party stakeholders reiterated that Kano remains a strategic stronghold for the APC, and that grassroots mobilization efforts are ongoing to ensure continued support for the Tinubu administration.
Kano State, one of Nigeria’s most populous and politically influential states, has historically played a decisive role in national elections. Analysts note that maintaining party cohesion in Kano is critical for the APC as it looks toward future electoral cycles. Any perception of division within the state chapter could have wider implications for the party’s national standing.
President Tinubu’s administration, which came into office on the platform of economic reform and national renewal, has faced both praise and criticism over its policies. Supporters point to ongoing fiscal reforms, infrastructure development initiatives, and efforts to stabilize the economy as signs of progress, while critics continue to raise concerns about inflation and cost-of-living pressures.
Against this backdrop, the Kano APC’s reaffirmation of support sends a clear political signal: the party intends to close ranks and project unity in the face of what it describes as orchestrated misinformation.
The statement concluded with a call on party members and the general public to remain vigilant against misinformation and to rely only on official party communication channels. It stressed that the individual who purportedly signed the controversial statement is “faceless” and lacks any recognized standing within the APC structure in Kano State.
Reiterating its stance, the party declared its “unflinching loyalty” to President Tinubu’s vision for a more prosperous Nigeria, adding that efforts to undermine this commitment would not succeed.
As political activities gradually intensify across the country, observers say such internal clarifications may become more frequent, underscoring the importance of message discipline and organizational cohesion within major political parties.
