Kanu Agabi to Deliver Keynote Address at Justice Ajileye’s Book Presentation, Foundation Launch
Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, CON, will deliver the keynote address at the public presentation of two books on electronic evidence authored by renowned jurist and legal scholar, Hon. Justice (Professor) Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye (Rtd).
The event, scheduled for July 2, 2026, at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja, will also feature the formal launch of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students.
The books to be presented are Electronic Evidence (Second Edition) and A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume II (2020–2025). The publications are expected to further enrich legal scholarship and judicial practice in the rapidly evolving field of electronic evidence.
Chief Agabi, one of Nigeria’s most respected legal luminaries, will speak on the theme, “The State of the Nation.” His address is expected to provide insights into the challenges and prospects of Nigeria’s democracy, justice system, economy, security, and governance.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), Agabi served as Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, where he played a significant role in shaping legal and constitutional policy. Widely admired for his intellect, integrity, and commitment to the rule of law, his participation is seen as a major highlight of the event.
Organisers say the choice of Chief Agabi as keynote speaker reflects both the significance of the occasion and the stature of Justice Omolaye-Ajileye, whose contributions to the development of electronic evidence jurisprudence in Nigeria have earned widespread recognition.
Beyond celebrating scholarship and legal development, the occasion will also advance a humanitarian cause through the launch of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students. The Foundation is designed to provide educational support, mentorship, and scholarship opportunities to academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students.
According to the organisers, the initiative reflects Justice Ajileye’s enduring belief that financial hardship should never stand in the way of talent, ambition, and educational advancement.
The event is expected to attract distinguished members of the judiciary, senior lawyers, academics, policymakers, corporate leaders, students, and other stakeholders from across the country, making it a unique gathering dedicated to scholarship, national discourse, and social impact.
