KOGI GOVT SETS UP HIGH-POWERED COMMITTEE FOR ALHAJI IBRAHIM IDRIS’ BURIAL
Following the pronouncement of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo during his condolence visit to the bereaved family in Abuja on Sunday, the Kogi State Government has constituted a high-powered committee to coordinate the burial arrangements for the former Governor of the State, His Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.
The committee, chaired by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, held its maiden meeting today in Lokoja, where members discussed plans for a peaceful and befitting burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Deputy Governor said the State Government would work closely with the family to ensure that the former Governor, who is also the leader of the state, receives a dignified farewell.

The committee approved subcommittees on Prayer, Mobilisation, Entertainment, Media, Venue and Protocol, Tomb Preparation, Finance and Security to ensure effective coordination of the burial arrangements.
The Deputy Governor directed all subcommittees to commence preparations and remain on alert pending the conclusion of arrangements with the family.
The committee is also expected to work with the family on the return of the former Governor’s remains from the United Kingdom and the arrangements for his state burial.
