KOGI STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (TECHNICAL), COMMENCES ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES IN MOPA

The Kogi State College of Education (Technical), has officially flagged off academic activities at its new site in Mopa, Mopamuro local government, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Jagboro Victoria while delivering her opening remarks, expressed her gratitude to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, and other stakeholders for their support and cooperation thus far.
She used the occasion to specially appreciate the contributions of His Royal Majesty, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, the Elulu of Mopa; Hon. Ademola Bello Caretaker Chairman Mopa Amuro, HRH Oba Clarence Olafemi and members of Mopa community for their unwavering support to the College.
The institution she said ‘aims to create a community that values academic excellence, innovation, and service to humanity, with a focus on inclusivity, support, and the pursuit of knowledge.’
Also speaking, HRH, Oba Clarence Olafemi congratulated the Provost and management of the College on the lofty achievements in Kabba, believing that she will replicate same and even surpass it in Mopa, stressing that he never knew the college will return to his community Mopa when he had the opportunity of announcing the establishment of the college in 2008 during one of their political campaigns for Kogi West in Kabba then.
He said commencing academic activities in Mopa marks a new era of possibilities for the institution, urging all stakeholders of the community to desist from going to court on none issues rather they should use such money as part of their contributions to the development of the college.
Speaking to Journalists shortly after the event, the Provost said the college will be having lectures in both Mopa and Kabba campuses simultaneously, pending when the infrastructures needed to accommodate all members of staff and to provide conducive learning environment for the students is put in place before the entire structure will relocate to Mopa.
She said the college has been moved to Mopa by law and it canot be changed, pointed out that some people felt it is the management under her leadership that don’t want to move, and noted that if all they need is available, they are ready to move immediately to Mopa.
According to her, the college has admitted 90 students in Mopa campus while the numbers may likely increase since Oba Ibeun has opened up more space to sponsor any interested and qualified students from Mopamuro.
She appealed to the stakeholders of the community to assist in helping the college to surmount the challenges of lack of office accommodation, classrooms, boreholes, and modern toilet facilities, stressing that the institution is confident in overcoming these challenges to create a conducive learning environment that will foster academic excellence and personal growth.
