The National Coordinator of the Advocacy Against Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Awareness Initiative (AADARAI), Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu, has extended warm Christmas greetings to all members of the Initiative nationwide and to Nigerians at large, urging citizens to embrace the true spirit of the season through love, sacrifice, unity, and renewed commitment to building a drug-free society.
As Christians across Nigeria join millions around the world to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, Hon. Dawakin Kudu described Christmas as a season that goes far beyond celebration and merriment. He noted that it is a profound reminder of God’s unconditional love for humanity and a call to live by the timeless values of compassion, humility, and selflessness.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Hon. Dawakin Kudu emphasized that the lessons of Christmas are especially relevant at a time when the nation continues to confront social challenges, including the menace of drug abuse and substance dependency.
“Christmas is a time of joy, but more importantly, it is a time for sober reflection on the values taught by Jesus Christ—love for one another, sacrifice for the common good, and peace among neighbors,” he said. “As we celebrate, let us reach out to the less privileged, support those struggling with addiction, and ensure that the light of hope touches every corner of our nation.”
The National Coordinator reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Advocacy Against Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Awareness Initiative to its nationwide campaign against drug abuse. He stressed that sustained advocacy, public enlightenment, rehabilitation support, and community engagement remain critical to safeguarding the future of Nigeria’s youth and strengthening the moral fabric of society.
Hon. Dawakin Kudu acknowledged that the fight against drug abuse requires patience, resilience, and collective responsibility. He called on Nigerians of all faiths to remain united and to continue supporting advocacy and rehabilitation efforts, noting that the long-term impact of these initiatives will lead to a healthier, more productive, and stable society.
He further appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly during the festive season, advising moderation in all activities and prioritization of safety, especially during holiday travels.
“As families gather to celebrate, let us remember those in recovery and those still battling addiction.
Together, through advocacy, awareness, and compassion, we can build a drug-free Nigeria,” he added.
Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year in advance. He expressed optimism that 2026 would usher in greater milestones for the country, with intensified efforts toward advocacy against drug abuse and expanded rehabilitation awareness initiatives nationwide.
“On behalf of myself, the State Coordinators, and all members of the Advocacy Against Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Awareness Initiative, I wish every Nigerian a Merry Christmas and a fulfilling year ahead,” he stated. “May the coming year bring renewed hope, stronger unity, and a safer, drug-free society for all.”
