Non-Punishment of Culprits: Responsible for Incessant Killings and Attacks, Says Sen Mwatkon
By Peter Azi – Jos
The Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwatkon, has expressed his anger over the unabated killings in Plateau State, saying culprits responsible for attacks and killing of innocent citizens have never been brought to book.
Mwatkon described the recent killings in Jol, Bassa, Dorowa, and Jos North as callous and inhumane, saying “killing of human beings is barbaric and is what everybody should condemn in totality, irrespective of tribe or religion.”
“The concept of humanity is gradually dying in our minds,” the Senator decried. “Nobody has the right to take the life of anybody, because life is brought by God into existence.”
He called on both state and federal governments to fish out the marauders that have been attacking and massacring innocent lives. “Once a human soul is killed, everyone is affected, irrespective of where you come from,” he said while speaking with journalists in Foron, during the coronation of the 20th Gwom Rei of Foron.
The Senator described the Chief as someone with a wealth of experience, as a retired police officer who worked with the former Governor, Da Jonah David Jang. “He will have little or no problem as he leads his subjects,” he said.
He also commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the success of congresses at wards and local government levels, saying “the strategy APC has adopted is that of consensus, and therefore, there is no complaint anywhere. There is no any form of litigation.”
“I wish us a successful congress and it will be hitch-free by God’s grace, where we will have credible leaders that will lead the party for the period of four years,” he said, appealing to all party members to conduct themselves peacefully, just like the past congresses were conducted successfully.
