“We in Barkin Ladi are Fervently Praying for Peace” – Hon. Stephen Pwajok
The Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Hon. Stephen Pwajok, says his local government is praying for lasting peace. “Just recently, we buried about 9 people in Dorowan Babuje, who were brutally attacked and maimed in their homes and in cold blood. The situation was terrible and horrible.”
Pwajok stated that as people, they should coexist, saying “there is no religion that tolerates killings.” He further stated that they should learn to live in peace with one another or perish as fools. “Enough of killings, we pray that God Almighty will not allow this carnage to happen to us again. We sympathize with all the families of the victims.”
Barkin Ladi has been witnessing attacks recently, alongside Riyom and Bassa local government areas where some people were gruesomely murdered.
Pwajok also congratulated the new Gwom Rei of Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, saying the king was coronated by the Gbang Gwom Jos after his election by the king makers. The Chairman wished the new king long life and wisdom on how to lead his people.
Foron District is the oldest district of the five districts in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area and comprises 14 villages. Until his coronation, the new Gwom Rei was a retired police officer who served meritoriously until his retirement.
The coronation, which took place at Government Secondary School in Foron Mission, attracted traditional rulers, national and state assembly members, former and serving, and various dance groups from Berom Land.
