In a recent press briefing, Hon. Zakari Adamu (popularly known as Landlord), the National Public Secretary of the Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria (PANN), expressed his disappointment in the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, accusing it of neglecting the Northern region and failing to address critical issues affecting the populace.
Speaking passionately about the state of infrastructure, Hon. Adamu highlighted the lack of progress on the dualization of the road from Kogi to Kaduna and Kano, which serves as the major link between Northern Nigeria and other regions of the country. “This road is the lifeline of our people and economy, yet it has been abandoned despite repeated promises. The neglect of such a critical project is a direct affront to the North,” he said.
He went on to outline the numerous challenges plaguing Northern Nigeria under the current administration, including hunger, fuel crises, insecurity, unemployment, and poor electricity supply. “The APC government has brought nothing but hardship to our people. If these issues are not addressed before 2027, I assure President Tinubu and the APC leadership that they will lose the trust and votes of Northern Nigerians.”
Hon. Adamu accused Northern political appointees and elected officials of prioritizing personal wealth over the welfare of their constituents. “Look at the difference between a single minister from Southern Nigeria and all the Northern appointees combined. While they amass wealth, our people are left to suffer. This betrayal will not go unchallenged,” he declared.
He also emphasized PANN’s growing influence as a voice for the Northern populace, stating that the organization is committed to enlightening the people on their rights and the importance of voting for leaders who genuinely care about their welfare. “We are not a political organization, but we have the mandate and support of the Northern people to stand up against this injustice. In the last election, our respected leaders worked hard to mobilize the North to support President Tinubu. Unfortunately, that trust has been betrayed.”
Hon. Adamu revealed plans for PANN to ramp up its advocacy efforts, mobilizing youth and community influencers to raise awareness about the failures of the current administration. “We say no to hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and the lack of infrastructural development in Northern Nigeria. We will fight for the future of our people and ensure they are not used and abandoned again.”
In a final warning, he assured the APC leadership that the people of the North have had enough of the suffering. “Our youth have disowned this administration because of the unbearable hardship it has brought. People can’t afford two meals a day; insecurity is rampant, and joblessness is at an all-time high. If these issues persist, the APC will face a reckoning in 2027, especially in Northwestern Nigeria. Change is inevitable, and PANN will lead the charge.”
PANN’s firm stance reflects growing discontent in Northern Nigeria, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape ahead of the next elections.
