Parent Alleges Fraudulent Charges by School Principal in Kogi
A parent, Kunle Kola Olubiyo, has written a letter of complaint to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, alleging fraudulent charges for the National Examination Council (NECO) internal exams by the Principal of Saint Luke Lokoja.
According to the letter, the Principal is demanding an additional payment of an undisclosed amount from a final-year SS3 student, Hanifa Oiza Karimu, despite the parent having already paid N30,000.
The parent claims that the administrative charges were meant to be paid to the school, implying that the additional payment being demanded is unjustified.
The Principal is allegedly threatening to prevent the student from writing her NECO exams if the payment is not made.

The parent has appealed to the Governor to intervene in the matter, seeking relief for his foster daughter.
Meanwhile, when asked the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemimo Jones, stated that he had handled the issue appropriately.
He noted that the approved rate for neco registration is #35,000 per candidate in the state
However, the parent, Comrade Kunle Olubiyo, maintained that the school authority’s actions are unfair and burdensome on parents.
The case highlights concerns about alleged fraudulent practices in some schools and the need for authorities to ensure fairness and transparency in school administration.
