The Chief Servant of Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo . A Poem for My Governor
He did not come with drums, nor with trumpets loud,
No echoes of self-praise in the restless crowd.
He walked like the dawn, gentle, steady, true—
And while the world was talking, he was building anew.
The Silent Developer
Where roads were broken, and dust held the way,
He laid down the stones that welcome the day.
Where classrooms stood naked, with wind as their roof,
He raised up the walls as living proof.
No banners, no noise, just hands at work’s core—
Turning silent whispers into open doors.
The Quiet Achiever
He mended the tears in the weary man’s eyes,
Paid the sweat of the worker, lifted his skies.
He watered the seed in the farmer’s palm,
Brought medicine’s touch and healing’s calm.
Youths once adrift now find a shore,
For hope was planted where there was none before.
The Steward of Peace
In the storm of tongues and the clash of pride,
He stood like a rock, calm tide by tide.
He counted no gold, but counted each life,
And governed with wisdom, not sword nor strife.
His treasury? Truth. His wealth? The people’s trust.
For in integrity alone do great nations thrust.
The Call for Tomorrow
A house half-built cannot shelter the rain,
A seed half-grown cannot weather the plain.
To break the bridge now is to break the dream,
To dim the light now is to burst the seam.
Let the work continue, let the vision run—
For what was begun must yet be done.
Final Verse
So here stands OAU, not loud, but strong,
A song in action, a silent song.
Not for himself, but for you, for me
For the state we love, for the land we see.
Give him the season, give him the term,
For the silent builder is the one we affirm.
