DSP Senator Barau Visit to Troops’ Camps in Gwarzo, Shanono and Tsanyawa LGAs.

In a renewed show of commitment to peace, security, and community resilience, Senator Barau undertook an on-the-spot assessment visit to military and joint security camps across Gwarzo, Shanono, and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas of Kano North Senatorial District.
The visit was aimed at encouraging our gallant officers and reinforcing collective resolve against the menace of marauding bandits infiltrating our communities from neighbouring states.
The journey commenced early in the morning. From the airport at about 7:00am, we proceeded directly to Lakwaya Ward in Gwarzo Local Government Area, where the first security camp is located.
On arrival, he interacted extensively with security operatives stationed at the camp, commending their vigilance, discipline, and sacrifice in protecting lives and property under difficult conditions.
Deputy Senate President was accompanied by the Garrison Commander of the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Kano, Lieutenant Colonel I. Ekoh, alongside other top security officials. At the Lakwaya camp, he inspected a parade mounted by the troops, led by the Joint Task Force (JTF) Commander in Gwarzo, Lt. Abdullahi Sadiq. The parade reflected a high level of preparedness, professionalism, and morale among the officers.
Addressing the troops after the inspection, he expressed profound appreciation for their unwavering dedication and bravery. Barau I Jibrin urged them to sustain the current operational tempo and intensify efforts to flush out criminal elements who threaten peace and stability in our land.
“The bandits terrorising our people must be decisively confronted. Our communities deserve peace, and your sacrifices will never be forgotten,” he said.
He also used the opportunity to call on members of the public to cooperate fully with security agencies, stressing that intelligence sharing and community support remain critical to the success of ongoing operations.
From Lakwaya, the delegation moved to Tsaure and Faruruwa camps in Shanono Local Government Area, and later to the troops’ camp in Tsanyawa LGA. At each location, and met with security personnel, listened to briefings on operational challenges, and reiterated the government’s and community’s support for their mission.
In Faruruwa Ward of Shanono LGA, I also held discussions with community leaders, where concerns were shared and reassurances given. He emphasized unity, vigilance, and faith, noting that security is a collective responsibility that requires patience, cooperation, and trust between civilians and security agencies.
As we concluded the visit, prayers were offered for continued protection and lasting peace.
“May Allah protect us all and prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in our communities,” he prayed.
Accompanying me on the tour were prominent party leaders and stakeholders, including the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Hon. Ibrahim Zakari Sarina; Hon. Farouk Lawan; Hon. Kabiru Ado Lakwaya; Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil; Hon. Aminu Sulaiman Goro; Hon. Garba Ya’u Gwarmai; Hon. Yusuf A. Yusuf Tabuka; Hon. Inuwa Zangina Dangada; Hon. Murtala Nyako; and Hon. Salisu Maje Ahmed Gwangwazo, among others.
The visit underscored a shared determination among political leaders, security agencies, and host communities to confront insecurity head-on and restore lasting peace across Kano North.
