KOGI WORKS MINISTRY WILL DELIVER ON ITS MANDATE – HON. YUSUF

Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to the full delivery of its statutory mandate in the area of road infrastructure across Kogi State, noting that the state’s rapid growth demands accelerated and sustainable infrastructural development.

The Commissioner made this known on Tuesday at the Kogi State House of Assembly Complex in Lokoja while defending the Ministry’s 2026 Budget, christened the “Budget of Unity and Transparency.” He explained that the Ministry of Works is statutorily empowered with the core responsibility of initiating, designing and executing capital projects in the area of infrastructural development across the length and breadth of the state.
In his words, “As engineers, we are problem solvers in the society. We offer solutions whenever the need arises, and we are committed and passionate in whatever we do.” He added that the Ministry would not rest on its oars in ensuring the full delivery of its mandate to the people of the state.

Hon. Engr. Yusuf also commended the Kogi State House of Assembly for placing the interest of the state above all else in its legislative functions, a gesture he said has continued to set Kogi apart from its contemporaries.

The Commissioner further expressed his deep appreciation to the Assembly for its consistent support to the Ministry whenever called upon, urging the lawmakers not to relent in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. He assured that engagements across all MDAs, especially the Ministry of Works, would continue to be driven by transparency, accountability and unwavering commitment to duty, adding that the Ministry’s engineers are fully equal to the task of serving Kogi State better.

Earlier, the Chairman, Committee on Works and Member representing Omala State Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Yahaya Umar, reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening road infrastructure across the state in order to ease transportation and improve economic activities.

Hon. Umar pointed out that the Ministry of Works is saddled with the cardinal responsibility of providing the state’s engineering and core technological infrastructure ranging from roads, bridges, electrical services and all civil-related works, stressing that the Ministry must never relent in the discharge of these duties. He expressed his satisfaction with the Ministry’s prompt intervention and quality delivery of projects across the state, urging it to sustain the good work. He further assured that the Assembly remains ready to render technical assistance and necessary support to enable the Ministry deliver the best road networks within and beyond Kogi State.

Hon. Umar also emphasized that the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is fully determined to eradicate poverty, ease the suffering of Kogites and enthrone quality development across the state. He added that the present administration will continue to deliver durable, efficient, high-impact and legacy-defining infrastructure that will firmly position Kogi State as a model of excellence and purposeful governance for sustainable development and economic growth in Nigeria.
