A young man was brutally murdered and his motorcycle stolen in Kanganchik Village, Zawan District, Jos South Local Government Area.
The victim, a resident of Manguna District in Bokkos Local Government Area, was killed by armed robbers who have been terrorizing the community.
The community is gripped by fear and sadness, with residents mourning the loss of their loved one.
The Ward Head, Da Paul Dalyop Christopher, expressed frustration and agony over the rising insecurity in the area.
“This is not the first time we’ve lost lives to these criminals,” he said. “Just two months ago, a lady’s corpse was found in the area.”
The Ward Head appealed to the government to convert the land into a market square, suggesting that the Kugiya Market could be relocated there.
He also urged the government to make a law banning the farming of tall crops, such as maize, which the criminals use as a hiding place. “We can’t continue to live in fear,” he said. “We need protection, or we’ll be forced to stage a protest.”
The Youth Leader, Sunday James, corroborated the Ward Head’s statement, expressing disappointment over the loss of innocent lives.
“This is the fourth time we’ve picked up bodies of our loved ones,” he said. “We can’t just sit back and do nothing. We need the government to secure our community.”
The community came together to mourn the loss of the young man, with women, youths, and motorcycle riders gathering in large numbers to pay their respects.
The Nigerian Police Force, B Division Bukuru, evacuated the dead body.
