Nigerian agripreneur Safiyah Beauty Ahmed has proudly represented Nigeria at the prestigious Agricultural Influencers Sponsorship Program 2024, held from September 28 to October 4, 2025, in São Paulo, Brazil.
Traditionally, the program selects four beneficiaries annually from across Africa, wherein Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Cameroon are beneficiaries for this Cohort and Safiyah stood out as the sole Nigerian representative, marking a significant achievement both for her personal journey and for Nigeria’s agricultural community.
Now in its fourth cohort, the program was jointly organized by the Advanced School of Tropical Agriculture (ASTA) at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (ESALQ, USP), in collaboration with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the University of São Paulo (USP), and sponsored by the OCP Foundation.
Centered on the theme “Crop Quality,” the initiative is designed to nurture and empower Africa’s future agricultural leaders, with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation.
According to the official invitation letter signed by Tiago Tezotto, Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo, all travel, accommodation, feeding, and logistics were fully funded by OCP FOUNDATION.
The program equips participants with advanced knowledge in Tropical Agriculture, Cropping Systems, Africa–Brazil Exchange, Food Security & Nutrition, Climate Smart Agriculture and Global Agricultural perspectives. Cohort members are tasked with returning to their home countries as “Agricultural Influencers”, where they will share expertise, promote innovation, and champion sustainable practices for at least one year.
Additionally, Safiyah is open to partnering in extending this knowledge to all and sundry for the growth and development of the Agriculture ecosystem.
Safiyah’s participation showcases Nigeria’s growing role in Africa’s agricultural transformation and is expected to inspire a new generation of young agripreneurs across the continent.
