…Management says ID cards now compulsory as 11-man committee probes security lapse
Anyigba, Kogi State – June 16, 2026– Following what it described as an “unfortunate security breach” on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the management of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba has rolled out sweeping security measures, including a total ban on student-owned vehicles and commercial motorcycles within the campus.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Registrar, Mr. S.A. Audu, the university said the new directives were approved at the 401st Management Committee meeting held on Monday, June 15, 2026. The moves, management noted, are aimed at “strengthening security within and around the campus” and restoring confidence among staff, students, and visitors.
*Key directives effective immediately:*
1. *Vehicle ban*: No student is permitted to bring a private car onto campus until further notice.
2. *Motorcycle ban*: Commercial motorcycles, popularly called “Okada”, are barred from operating within the university premises.
3. *Single access point*: The Main Gate is now the only entry and exit point for all persons and vehicles.
4. *ID enforcement*: All staff and students must wear their official identity cards visibly at all times while on campus.
The registrar added that management has constituted an 11-man committee to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the June 11 incident and to recommend further actions. Details of the breach were not disclosed in the statement.
Management also appealed to the university community and other stakeholders to cooperate fully with security personnel as the new measures take effect.
“While management remains committed to the overall well-being of staff, students, and other stakeholders on campus,” the statement concluded, “strict compliance with these directives is non-negotiable.”
The university has not said when the ban on vehicles and motorcycles will be lifted. Students and staff have been advised to make alternative transport arrangements for the period.
