Philanthropist Amb. Gabriel Abinu Extends N20,000 Monthly Stipends to Elderly Residents in Lokoja

For the second consecutive month, Kogi-born philanthropist, Ambassador Coach Gabriel Abinu, has distributed ₦20,000 monthly cash stipends to vulnerable and elderly residents of Lokoja Local Government Area Ward A in Kogi State.

The initiative, which is part of his ongoing social support programme, was carried out under the “Ambassador Gabriel Abinu Foundation Monthly Stipend Scheme for Lokoja Senior Citizens”.

Speaking during the distribution exercise at the Lokoja Club Fitness Centre weekend, Amb. Abinu, represented by Comrade Shaibu Bello, said the gesture was in fulfillment of his promise to improve the welfare of the aged in the community.

“This is my little way of giving back to my people,” he said. “Aside from supporting vulnerable children, women, and youths, the elderly remain my top priority. These are our fathers and mothers who deserve our love, care, and respect. In my little capacity, I will continue to support them monthly so that they can live more comfortably and stay healthy for us.”

Amb. Abinu emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing societal needs, urging individuals and organizations not to leave the welfare of the people solely to the government.

“No matter your financial strength, it’s important to make a positive impact on those around you,” he added. “The government alone cannot carry all the burdens of its citizens. We must all contribute to make life easier for the less privileged.”

The philanthropist, who recently sponsored 100 students in their educational pursuits and constructed boreholes to provide clean water to several communities, reiterated his commitment to grassroots development and community empowerment.

“Development begins at the grassroots,” he said. “I believe that when the people at the local level are supported, the entire state benefits. My goal is to continue doing my part to uplift lives and give hope to the hopeless.”

Many beneficiaries of the scheme expressed their gratitude, describing Amb. Abinu as “a man with a golden heart”.

With initiatives like this, many residents say Amb. Abinu has continued to set an example of compassion, empathy, and genuine community service in Kogi State.
