Re: Hon. Leke Abejide Wasn’t Involved In The Formation of ADC: Dare Olatunde’s Watery Claims, As He Sponsors Coalition Against Tinubu
The tales of Dare Olatunde; his vicious comments, and claims about the National Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Rt Hon Leke Abejide would have been ignored. Needless to say, Abejide does not share his petty views or his penchant for outright untrue claims.
To set the record straight, Hon. Leke played a pivotal role in the formation of ADC and he is the reason the party still stands. Dare on the other hand didn’t contribute a dime to the development of the African Democratic Congress. Hon. Abejide single-handedly funded the party and most candidates who have contested under the party since 2019.
Olatunde’s claims that Hon. Leke Abejide was not involved in the formation of the ADC in Kogi State are unfounded. After the death of Prince Abubakar Audu, Hon. Leke Abejide and his supporters left the APC to find succour in another political party as Team Audu expected the then National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to make moves on the reconciliation process.
The team, which includes Hon. Abejide and other members met to know their next line of action, and thereafter, they decided to move ahead to join forces to build ADC where Prof Isa Daniel was the state Chairman and Dare Olatunde was nominated by Hon. Abejide as the acting secretary of the party to work with the state chairman. He disagreed with the conjecture that he couldn’t work with the state chairman and left the party. They resolved to meet with the National Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu. Hon. Leke Abejide built a solid relationship with Chief Ralph Nwosu when he picked his nomination form to contest his first election in 2018. As such, Maiyegun did not take Hon. Leke to the National Chairman of the party, his claim is just a tale of the moon by day. The question is: if Hon. Abejide was not involved, would he have nominated him (Dare Olatunde) to be the acting secretary and have the leverage to contest under the party?
Hon. Abejide decided to pay WAEC fees across the secondary schools in Yagba Federal Constituency, Mayegun was one of those who discouraged him saying the initiative would not translate to votes for him but Hon. Abejide decided to go ahead with the payment against his advice to deter him from paying.
When Hon. Leke Abejide became the flagbearer of ADC in 2019, he campaigned across Yagba, but Maiyegun didn’t campaign with him, he only joined at Isanlu while Hon. Leke Abejide and his campaign team traversed every nook and cranny of Yagbaland. Yet he is the most beneficial among those who worked closely with the Honorable member.
Hon. Leke Abejide was part of the background foundation that solidified and sustained ADC in Kogi state and at the National level. His involvement also revived the party’s visibility and gained footing in Kogi State. He is the only standing member of the House of Representatives in ADC, a member of the ADC National Executive Committee (NEC), and a second-term serving member of House of Representative who not only won his elections back-to-back under the ADC platform but has also supported candidates for the House of Assembly and House of Representatives elections in state and federal constituencies outside his catchment, all under the umbrella of the ADC.
He remains a member of the African Democratic Congress to date.
Also, during a meeting in Abuja around 2023, Chief Maiyegun openly denounced ADC, stating that he was no longer a member of the party during the preparation for Hon.Abejide’s second term but just a friend to him. Therefore, he has no moral compass to dictate who the landlord of the party is. Hon. Leke Abejide gave ADC the image others ride on today as a political party, while his role in putting the foundational structures of the party together can’t be underestimated both at the National and Kogi State levels.
Hon. Abejide is the landlord of ADC, contrary to the statements of Dare Olatunde that Hon. Leke is not the landlord of ADC, his assertions are watery, baseless, and unfounded as such should not be taken seriously.
How will someone who is not a member and has not contributed to the party dictate who the landlord of the party is? It is not out of place to say he does not know what it means to be a Landlord.
Hon. Abejide is not just a member of the party, he has been financially committed to the party and its affairs, and his membership in the party has kept the party from being deregistered by INEC.
We are most informed about (Dare Olatunde’s) conspiracies, transactions, and other engagements with the Coalition in Kogi state to bring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu down and work against him in his guise to fight Hon. Leke Abejide the National Leader and landlord of ADC who is too busy to engage him in his shenanigans. Let it be known that Maiyegun is just an hibernator in ADC, and not a registered member of the party. We know he intends to hide and intensify conspiracies against Hon. Leke Abejide and to continue his transactional politics.
