The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has called on Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), to refrain from making divisive statements that could further inflame tensions in the country.
Ata’s comments came in response to Kwankwaso’s allegations that Lagos was attempting to dominate Kano by interfering in the selection of its Emir, which he made at a university graduation ceremony.
Minister Ata highlighted the significance of Kwankwaso’s words, cautioning that they could have far-reaching consequences and may even be seen as contempt of court, given that the issue of the Kano Emirate is still pending in court.
Through his media aide, Adamu Aminu, Ata urged Kwankwaso to recognize the potential impact of his remarks on national unity and to engage in more constructive dialogue.
In his conclusion, Ata emphasized the importance of prioritizing unity and avoiding inflammatory rhetoric that could exacerbate existing tensions.
